Have an onboarding template in your knowledge base for everyone joining to create a copy from, that contains
- checklist/todo items that candidate check through the first day/week, such as:
- ask employee to say hi on the general slack, with a simple description of what they do
- schedule 15min meeting with their skip-level manager (so they know they can do this in the company)
- post a friendly goodbye note for their former employer and welcome for the current one.
- resources they MUST read
- resource they COULD read
- let the employee fill/update simple information such as
- who is your manager?
- what is your team?
- what is your role? (applied for for senior level but now I am been told I am Level2, what does that mean should be answered on the first day
- Allow them to change/comment on the documentation system when they receive conflicted information:
- If the tech-lead says ‘yeah here it says x but we do this differently’, they SHOULD flag this or change it on the spot.
